PATHWAYS: An Exploration of the Recovery Experience in Australia

The experience of people who have successfully dealt with serious alchol and other drug use problems can teach 'what works' and how to help others. Most of what is known about the experiences of people who are affected by serious drug use problems comes from reseach done in the USA.

Breaking new ground,we found out how the Australian experience of addiction and recovery differs from that in the USA.

This reseach was a partnership between people with 'lived experience' of addiction and recovery, and scientists, that is APSU working with The National Development and Reseach Institute Inc. The purpose of this project was to find out what helps and what makes it difficult for people who have experienced drug problems to recover.
